PREPAID CARDPHONE SERVICE

This public service use prepaid phone cards purchased at Post Office. After calls are made, the remaining sum appears on the card. In HCM city, there are over 1500 cabins.

MOBILE TELEPHONES

GSM is the mobile communication system with worldwide standard, modern digital equipment & high secrecy. Each phone holds a simcard with subscriber's code & can be used with any mobile phone within GSM standard. Currently, there are 2 GSM mobile systems nation-wide: Mobifone & Vinaphone. Besides, Call-link is the cellular mobile communication system with HCMC & Vung Tau coverage.

PREPAID MOBILE PHONE CARD

Satisfying short-term mobile phone use, control of cost or disliking payment by bills. Fees are automatically deducted from account as calls are made. There are two types available: Mobicard from VMS-Mobifone and Vinacard from Vinaphone.

TV CONFERENCE SERVICE (ISDN)

Users can transmits moving pictures, messages, data between two ends of equipment. This service is often used to televise the conferences, seminars, reducing time & transport expenses for businesses. PAGING SERVICE

Pagers, within network coverage, will receive sender's message displayed in words or digits on the screen. The callers can send messages via operators of paging switchboards or dial the specific numbers to send messages directly. Currently, two paging centres are operating: Saigon Paging Centre and Vietnam Paging Centre.

BUREAU FAX

Postal counters can forward fax messages with postal address & no fax number or subscribers can sign contract in advance to send by Saigon Fax & be followed up in case the fax transmission is difficult or unable to connect. Fees are only paid when transmission is through, counted by pages with relevant domestic or international rates.

DATA TRANSMISSION PRIVATE CHANNEL RENTING

For subscribers requiring data transmission speeds of 128 Kbps, 256 Kbps & 2 Mbps nationally or internationally, leased lines or dial up modes can be arranged. * Saigon Telecom - Tel: 8 251 558.

VSAT (SATELLITE COMMUNICATION) SERVICE

Provide service, equipment rental, installation & registration for usage of telex, voice, fax & data transmission via satellites by VSAT channel privately hire to all interested partners in Vietnam & Asian region.

MOBILE TRUNKING RADIO SERVICE

This trunking radio communication network combines the usage characteristics of both a transceiver & mobile telephone network. The equipment can be mounted on-the-spot, handheld or in a car. Subscribers can make group calls, or blend into inter-provincial, or international networks, transmit faxes, or use as trunk switchboards. Sea coverage: from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau sea area, apart from coast 70-250 km. Land coverage: concentrated in industrial zones, export-processing zones, main inter-provincial roads of big cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Vinh Long.

SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE SERVICES

Collect calls
Calls are paid by receivers. Callers have to register in advance with international operator. Currently, this service is applied for 9 countries: USA, Canada, Australia, France, UK, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark.

Person-to-person calls
Callers dial 110 & request the international operator connecting with the person whose name designated at certain telephone number.

Message calls
Callers from foreign countries can use this service to ask for one or many persons personally in Vietnam, who do not possess telephones, to come to the nearest post office for a conversation.

Home country direct service (HCD)
From Vietnam can call directly to switchboards in USA, Australia, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland to register & make calls. Callers do not have to pay fees in Vietnam but in the country they register the service.

International conference telephones with operator-assistance
Conversations are connected simultaneously amongst a maximum of 60 telephones located at various spots locally & internationally. Only three telephones can talk & listen simultaneously whilst the others only listen. If other telephones are required to talk & listen, the main telephone in operation in the conference can request the operator to activate this service.
